Nikken Transfers Dai-Gohonzon;
 Demolition of Sho-Hondo Underway!!!

On April 5, Nicherin Shoshu High Priest, Nikken Abe announced , as has been rumored in recent months, that the Dai-Gohonzon would be transfered out of the Sho-Hondo (Grand Main Temple). An hour later, at 4:00 PM, the Dai-Gohonzon was moved from the Sho-Hondo, where it has been enshrined for 25 years, to a nearby facility, the refurbished Hoanden.  Shown below is the "transfer ceremony".  Then on April 14, Nikken announced that the Sho-Hondo itself would be demolished. The follwing notice was posted at Taiseki-ji's Internal Affairs Department:
"The demolition of the Sho-Hondo will start in May 1998 and continue for twenty-four
months until April 2000.  The estimated cost will be 4.5 billion yen (about $35 million."

Shown below is a picture of the ceremony transfening the Dai-Gohonzon to the Sho-Hondo in 1972. This event was celebrated by more than 10 million believers around the world, 8 million of whom had contributed $100 million to the construction of the Sho-Hondo.

Sho-Hondo,(Grand Main Temple) the next victim of the Nikken wrecking ball !!!
    Reverend Takudo Hosoi,
Son of 66th High Priest Nittasu
Words by 66th High Priest Nittatsu's son, Reverend Takudo Hosoi:
"At the time of the construction of the Sho-Hondo, many believers made donations as an expression of their profound faith and sincerity, which I can find no words to describe. The former High Priest Nittatsu said,'The Dai-Gohonzon shall be enshrined in this Sho-Hondo for all eternity.' Now Nikken has suddenly transferred the Dai-Gohonzon and said,'The Sho-Hondo is a thing of the past...a useless ruin of gigantic stature.' Nikken has trampled upon the believer's sincerity. if Nikken insists -- as he said -- that the Sho-Hondo has been closed because of the slander committed by President Ikeda and the SGI, then he should close all temples and properties donated by the Soka Gakkai, or else, return them to the Soka Gakkai (Kaikaku Jiho, April 10, 1998)."

We, passing the Gate of Glory, in the dawn
Hurry to the completion of our goal,
Lifting our eyes to Mt. Fuji's shining snows.
Pass the joy of faith from each to the other.
Ten million and more treasure towers of our lives
Tread the earth in firm array,
To form the basis of our goal.

The foundation should be forged deeper, much deeper,
Now let us build the eternal basis
For lighting the sacred fire, glowing forever,
For the aeons to come.
...

Destruction comes in but a moment--
Construction only after desperate struggle.
Dark is the force of habit but bright is hope.
Retreat is death while advance is life.
...

Armor of strife for destruction,
Armor of rightness for construction.
Shining above is the brilliant entity of the Mystic Law.

The foundation is deep, very deep--
It must be sunk to bedrock.
Buried beneath the ancient palaces
Were tens of millions of sacrifices.
In the basis of our construction,
All our glorious lives shall be laid.
Let us adorn the soaring Grand Main Temple
With the wood of the treasure towers of our lives,
All of us with but one mind.
...

Friends of construction, who advance towards our goal!
Brave men of construction, who live up to your task!
Hold high the torch of warning for the world,
High in the sky and far away.

Excerpts from _ Ode To Construction _
Written for the building of the Sho-Hondo
